How to “Print Screen” and crop notes in Paint (program)

As-salaamu alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh

Some students were asking about how to copy the screen and crop the notes.  Here are some instructions:

  • The “Print Screen”  button is usually somewhere on the right of the “F” keys or by the number keys. (Position varies with different computers, please refer to user manual or help button if you are not able to locate it.)

  • Click it when you want to copy some of the notes on the whiteboard
  • Go to your Windows start button and click on it

  • Choose “All Programs” and click on it once to open it
  • Look in “All Programs ” for “Accessories” folder and click on it
  • Search the drop down menu in your accessories folder for “paint”  Once you click on it it will open the program.  It will look like this (or slightly different depending on the version you are running):

  • Click in the middle of the screen and then  hit “CTRL” and “V” (simultaneously) to paste your screen shot into the program
  • Then you can go under “File” and click  “Select all”  and then to “image” and “crop” (It may vary depending on your version)
  • You will then be able to select just the words you want to save, then click “crop” again and the image will be cropped
  • Go under “file” again and “save as” to save your selection.
  • You can then insert into a word document as a picture
