As-salaamu alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh
In this next homework assignment we are asked to bring a verb (the maadhee) on the five verb forms (yaf`alaani, taf`alaani, yaf`aloona, taf`aloona, taf`aleena). Most of us will be looking for a maadh on the scale of Fa`ala because that is the maddhee of the first three chapters. But if we don’t know which verbs are of which chapters, then how will we know if the mudhaari` is on the scale of yaf`ulu, yaf`ilu, or yaf`alu?
Here is a fun and easy way to find the chapter for a specific maadhee Inshaa’Allaah… You will need to go to the resource page of this blog and click on: CORPUS-QURAN. But first – open your Qur’aan to a surah you have memorized or go to the back and start with the shorter surahs to start looking for a maadh ….
For example, in Surah Al Falaq (113:2) we find the past tense verb: Khalaqa. Now is the mudhaari` yakhluqu, yakhliqu or yakhlaqu? If you are not sure click on the Corpus Quran and you will get a page like this (click it to view at 100%):
Now follow the steps in the preceding slides –
(sometimes you might not find a mudhaari but you will find one of the five verb forms in your search on corpus quran and that will also let you know which chapter the maadhee is by looking at the harakah on the `ayn.)
Allaah Knows Best, may He grant us all success!
